PLANO - Eric Zastoupil and the Plano boys basketball team were looking for a way to bounce back from a tough loss Dec. 21 to Plano West in a District 8-5A opener.

The Wildcats went 2-1 in the Wildcat Holiday Classic Wednesday-Friday and advanced to the tournament championship. Zastoupil scored 43 points in three tournament games and averaged eight rebounds en route to earning all-tournament honors. He was one of two Wildcats to be named to the all-tournament team.

For his efforts, Zastoupil was chosen as the Plano Star Courier's Male Athlete of the Week for Dec. 27-Jan. 2.

Zastoupil's best game in the tournament was a 19-point performance in a 59-52 loss to Mesquite in the tournament championship. The Army signee also had a 15-point game in a 56-53 win over Denton Ryan.

With the absence of Texas A&M signee Joseph Fulce, Zastoupil has had to shoulder the inside responsibilities of rebounding and blocking shots.
